Cookie Policy

How ScoutingWave uses cookies and similar technologies.

Last updated: May 25, 2026

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website saves to your browser when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work correctly, remember your preferences, and provide information to the site owner about how visitors use the site.

Cookies can be “session cookies,” which are deleted when you close your browser, or “persistent cookies,” which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them. They can be set by the site you are visiting (“first-party cookies”) or by third-party services embedded on the page (“third-party cookies”).

ScoutingWave uses only first-party cookies and a minimal set of third-party cookies from providers listed in this policy. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

2. Cookies We Use

(a) Essential Cookies

Essential cookies are required for the platform to function. Without them, core features such as logging in and maintaining a secure session are not possible. You cannot opt out of essential cookies while continuing to use the Service.

Cookie NamePurposeDuration
sb-[project]-auth-tokenSupabase authentication session token. Keeps you logged in.Session / 1 hour (refreshed automatically)
sb-[project]-auth-token-code-verifierPKCE code verifier used during OAuth login flows to prevent CSRF attacks.Session
Accept-LanguageStores your language preference for localized content.1 year

(b) Functional Cookies

Functional cookies remember your choices and preferences to improve your experience. These are not strictly necessary for the platform to operate, but they make it more convenient to use. They are stored in localStorage rather than as HTTP cookies (see Section 3 for details).

KeyPurpose
sw_cookie_consentRemembers whether you accepted or declined optional cookies.
sw_notification_prefsStores your in-app notification preferences (e.g., email digest frequency).

(c) Analytics Cookies

We use Vercel Analytics to understand how visitors use our platform. Vercel Analytics is privacy-focused: it collects anonymous, aggregate data and does not track users across different websites or build advertising profiles. No personally identifying information is collected by Vercel Analytics.

We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other third-party analytics services that set persistent cross-site tracking cookies.

(d) No Advertising Cookies

ScoutingWave does not operate any advertising networks, run retargeting campaigns, or use any third-party advertising cookies. We do not share your browsing behavior with advertisers.

3. localStorage

In addition to cookies, we use your browser’s localStorage API to store small pieces of information on your device. localStorage is similar to cookies but is not transmitted to our servers with every request — it is read and written only by JavaScript running on our pages.

We store the following items in localStorage:

  • sw_cookie_consent: Whether you have accepted or declined optional cookies. Values: “accepted” or “declined”. Set when you interact with our cookie consent banner.
  • sw_welcome_dismissed: Whether you have dismissed the new user welcome checklist. This prevents the checklist from appearing again after you close it.
  • UI preferences: Settings such as your preferred measurement units (imperial/metric) for athletic measurements.

All localStorage data stored by ScoutingWave is first-party only. We do not share localStorage data with third parties.

4. How to Control Cookies

Most browsers allow you to manage cookies through their settings. You can typically choose to block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or delete existing cookies. Below are links to cookie management instructions for common browsers:

Please be aware that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from logging in and using core features of ScoutingWave. Blocking analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use the platform.

5. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal that you can enable to request that websites do not track your browsing activity. Where technically feasible, ScoutingWave honors DNT signals by disabling optional analytics data collection for users who have DNT enabled.

Because we do not engage in cross-site tracking or behavioral advertising, the practical impact of DNT on your ScoutingWave experience is minimal. Essential cookies required for authentication and security are not affected by DNT signals.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. For material changes, we will provide at least 30 days’ advance notice by email to registered users. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects when the most recent changes were made.
